Privacy Policy

AI Sidebar Pro is built with your privacy as the top priority. All data stays on your device. Here is exactly what we collect, how we handle it, where it is stored, and who it is shared with.

1. Data Collection

We collect only what you provide: AI provider API keys, chat messages you type, custom settings, and conversation history. When you use a page-analysis feature, visible page text is read only at your explicit request. No personal identification, payment data, device identifiers, or usage analytics are ever collected.

2. Data Handling

All data is handled locally on your device. API keys are stored in browser-native chrome.storage.local. Chat messages are processed in-memory and only sent to your chosen AI provider when you click Send. Page content is never read passively. No data is ever routed through our servers.

3. Data Storage

Everything is stored exclusively on your device using chrome.storage.local — sandboxed and inaccessible to other extensions or websites. No cloud storage, no external databases. You can delete all data at any time via Extension settings or by uninstalling the Extension.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third parties. The only exception: when you send a message, it is transmitted directly from your browser to the AI provider you selected (Anthropic, OpenAI, DeepSeek, Google, xAI) using your own API key. These transmissions are user-initiated and governed by each provider's own privacy policy.

5. Permissions

All requested permissions are strictly necessary: storage (save settings locally), tabs + activeTab (page context for AI), scripting (inject sidebar), offscreen (clipboard/DOM), contextMenus (right-click "Ask AI"), notifications (task completion alerts), alarms (background maintenance), host_permissions (run on all sites).

6. Direct API Calls

Your AI requests go directly from your browser to the provider's API using your own API key — not through our servers. Providers: Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (GPT-4o), DeepSeek, Google (Gemini), xAI (Grok). Each provider's own Privacy Policy applies to those transmissions.

7. No Tracking or Analytics

Zero analytics, zero crash reporting, zero telemetry. We do not track how you use the extension, what websites you visit, or how often you open the sidebar. None of that data is collected, stored, or shared.

8. No Remote Code

The Extension contains no remote code execution of any kind. All code runs locally. No scripts are loaded from external URLs at runtime.

9. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from minors.
